This is the first installment of a new page in MSDN Magazine, which we're calling Bulletin Board. Like a physical bulletin board, this is a place where members of the development community will be able to find news and information about what's going on in the "real world."

This month's column introduces you to Code Project, a vast site of resources for Web development. Code Project is a member of the Microsoft Code Wise Community, a source for tips, code samples, news, and advice from experts outside of Microsoft.
CodeProject.com has one of the largest collections of Web development articles and tutorials available online. It contains more than 800 Web development articles, about half of which cover ASP.NET. With more than one million members, Code Project has become a valuable resource for Web developers (see http://www.codeproject.com/aspnet). Aside from the storehouse of articles (with hundreds of new articles posted each month), Code Project has tutorials for beginners, discussion boards on various topics, a newsletter, industry news, and an Internet lounge. Some parts of the site are available only to members.
Code Project is a great place to seek out Web resources. Whether you're just getting started with ASP or you're moving from ASP to ASP.NET, you'll find plenty of articles. For example:
- "Beginner's Introduction to ASP.NET" by Sudhir Mangla
- "Overview of Caching in ASP.NET" by Smitha Vijayan
If you're looking to further your creativity and roll your own controls, explore the articles on custom server controls:
- "Eventing Within Composite Web Custom Controls" by Nick Pirocanac
- "Heathmans XmlTransformer Control" by Paul Watson
If you want a little more speed, check out the ATL Server articles. If you're moving from ISAPI to .NET, you'll want to learn more about HttpHandlers and HttpModules:
- "ATL Server—Web Application/Web Service" by Leon Finker
- "Using HTTP Modules To Combat Leeching" by KingLeon
Data access and data binding are critical requirements in ASP.NET development. The following articles provide an assortment of tips and techniques to help tie your data to your design:
- "ASP.NET Query Control" by Mike Ellison
- "Paging of Large Resultsets in ASP.NET" by Jasmin Muharemovic
- "Designing and Implementing a Data Access Tier" by Paul Abraham
Code Project also offers two Web development Message Boards, one on ASP.NET and one on general Web development, including HTML, JavaScript, classic ASP, and other Web-building tools. They also award prizes to the top articles submitted in each of several categories each month, so if you have some code, tips, or words of wisdom you can share them with the rest of the community. Details can be found at Monthly competition - Rules and Prize list. If you prefer to consume your information via RSS, subscribe to the feed at http://www.codeproject.com/webservices/articlerss.aspx?cat=4.
